About This Project

This site is currently being developed to support a workshop on Using Weblogs in Language Learning Classes, being presented at the 2006 JALT national conference in Kitakyushu, Japan on November 2nd, by Marc Sheffner and Aaron P. Campbell.

Marc Sheffner teaches EFL at Tezukayama University, Nara, and has his students use blogs in an English writing class. He also has a blog for students at http://sheffnersweb.net (read about it here) . He has been blogging since 2002 and has his own homepage. He loves reading and writing, and took to the Internet like a duck to water. However, he is not an expert computer user, and thinks “server logs” might be large bits of wood used by waiters in some obscure restaurant tradition. He has 4 children (which might have something to do with it).

Aaron P. Campbell teaches EFL at Kyoto Sangyo University and regularly uses weblogs in his elective courses. He runs his own weblog at e-poche.net and is co-founder of Dekita.org, an organization promoting the open and participatory use of Web technology for language learning.
